The Reindeer Moss also named Deer Moss or Caribou Moss is a light-colored Fruticose (bushy, branched) Lichen (Cladonia Rangiferina). As its name suggests, it is the primary food for Reindeer.

The moss grows in both hot and cold climates, in well-drained, open spaces. It is found primarily in the areas of alpine tundra and is extremely cold-hardy. Its fastest growing periods are spring and fall when the humidity is high and cool temperatures remain stable.

 We import our preserved moss from Norway through carefully selected suppliers/ farms. The moss is preserved in an eco-friendly process that consists of replacing the water in the plant with glycerine. It is handpicked in its natural environment following ecological practices, with an ISO Certification for sustainable harvesting in a way that allows for fast regrowth.

The moss is coloured afterwards with food based dye to give different vibrant colour options. Keep in mind that in order to have the plant as lush as it is when it is living, the air humidity in your space should be above 30% . The average air humidity is approximately 50% in a home or office.

Preserved Reindeer moss has excellent qualities for interior design projects. As it is preserved and no longer living or growing it is versatile and low-maintenance. Requiring no watering, no trimming and no light it is adaptable to most indoor spaces where living plants could not survive. By using different mounting materials Mossart can be installed on flat or curved surfaces in horizontal or vertical spaces. Another useful feature is that Mossart walls also provide significant sound absorption where they are installed making them incredible soundboards for echoes and noise interferences.
