Our Story: Learn More About Why We Transform Spaces

We are an independent, female-owned, Toronto-based biophilic design company specializing in sustainable and maintenance-free plant installations. We create restful, welcoming spaces by using natural materials to bring the beauty and tranquillity of nature indoors. Ultimately, we hope that by rebuilding the bridges between the human and natural world, we can inspire people to invest in the environment as a way of investing in themselves and the future.

Our Work Is:

Sustainable Art

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly

All projects are made with naturally grown, preserved plants and mosses. Some material is sourced mainly from France, Italy, Norway and Spain. The plants will not wilt, grow, nor put out pollen or spores resulting in ever-green artwork that requires no maintenance.

Creative Desgin

Creative & Customized

All designs are customized to your vision and space and are one-of-a-kind. We never copy designs from past projects.

Canadian-based Business

Canadian-Based

We're located in Toronto and serve the Greater Toronto Area. We do our best to source from local materials and suppliers.

Our Mission

The Indoor Forest seeks to transform spaces into sanctuaries that evoke the peace and tranquillity people feel when they connect with nature. Using only natural materials, our installations employ a myriad of colours, patterns, and textures found in nature to improve mental, emotional, and physical well-being in any space. Our core beliefs echo the lessons learned from Mother Nature: sustainability, simplicity, and unity.

Stevie Klick

Founder/Creative Director

Many people have a green thumb. I have a green soul. During the most challenging times in my life, nature was my religion, and the forest my sanctuary. Something about those first few steps off the concrete sidewalks of the city and into the quiet forest of giants makes me feel at home.

Years ago, I realized that a corporate job in finance was not for me. The sterile spaces, the unnatural light, the inactivity for hours on end… It all made me tired, irritable, and unfulfilled. I knew I was on the right track when I started studying natural nutrition and medicinal plants. It felt so good to be helping people feel better and to encourage a deeper appreciation of the ways in which plants improve wellbeing – eating them, drinking them in tea, surrounding yourself with them: it all heals.

As a lifelong artist and nature lover, my passion for exploration, science, discovery and the earth has only grown. This brings me to my next chapter- biophilia and biophilic design. One of the first things that I noticed upon moving to Toronto was the lack of trees and plants in our city! I want to change this and it starts from the inside out with an idea and the belief that we can do better, for our city, for our environment and for ourselves. Quite literally one plant at a time, one business, one home.

"Plants have changed my life. Learning about medicinal plants and increasing the plants I included in my diet made my body stronger and my mind clearer. Spending time in natural spaces helped me feel safe, grounded, and focused. And working with plants - nurturing them, playing with them, and making art with them - it feeds my soul."
